Hi everyone!
I took the GMAT for the first time today (9th September 2017) and scored 760. I would like to share my experience with this wonderful community.

I took the GMAT for the first time today (9th September 2017) and scored 760. I would like to share my experience with this wonderful community.
- Preparation Strategy: I purchased the OG about six months ago, but registered from the exam less than a month ago. I have an engineering background, so didn't need to much for Quant. I spent only a few hours on it during the first few months. From mid-June, I think, I spent about 10-15 hours per week from then on. This may be less, but one thing I ensured in my preparation was regularity (except for 2-3 weeks when I was down with typhoid).
- Resources recommended:
1)OG: I did almost every every question in Verbal twice, and less than half the questions in Quant
2)OG Verbal/Quant, if you feel you are weak in one of these sections (Remember, only YOU can decide this)
3)GMAT Prep Tests: I have seen most people here give the tests only once, but I strongly recommend resetting and retaking them.
4)Available free tests: About 5-6 of them
5)MGMAT SC and CR books: These books are quite helpful if you want to push your score beyond V40.
6)For AWA, be sure to check out the template by chineseburned. (Sorry, but you'll have to search for this, GMATClub doesn't allow me to post URLs) - Mock test scores: My scores over the past 2 months had a large variance, and ranged from 670 to 770. I was most disappointed by the fact that I scored exactly 760 in the GMAT Prep mock I took a couple of months ago. Maybe, I didn't really improve much over this time period, or my scores were based on pure luck.
- Exam day:
I ate half a chocolate during each of the breaks, not because I was hungry, but because there was nothing else to do. The exam centre was just a few kilometres from my home, but was quite disappointing. It was very small (only 6 seats) and cramped, the exam administrator was continuously staring at us
, the markers were not working properly, lots of noise from the nearby areas.

I presume RC might have been a strong suit of yours to begin with as there is no
mention of that section anywhere in your debrief.
Could you please detail your strategy of dealing with RC

Contrary to what you presume, RC was one of my weakest sections in the beginning, despite the fact that I consider myself to be an avid reader since my childhood.
It just somehow improved over the course of time. In the exam, I spent 5 minutes in just reading the passage, and then roughly 90 seconds for each question. I just did the OG questions twice, went through the explanations, and slowly started to get a hang of what is really expected in RC. I would say that even doing the OG thrice is not a bad idea. Apart from that, if you have sufficient time, you could read various fiction/non-fiction books, newspaper editorials, articles on Quartz, Harvard Law Review etc.
For this particular section, I did not find the MGMAT book to be good enough, that is why I could not recommend anything for it.
