Can someone please explain why it's not option C.

if you observe closely c itself is the conclusion.
cause--------------effect.
Learning MI >> ++ academics.

so B.

A study of 1,000 elementary school students across the nation found that those who had received sometraining in the violin performed better academically, on average, than those who had not. This suggests that learning to play a musical instrument makes children that age academically stronger.
The conclusion of this argument assumes which of the following?

A Better academic performance can be attributed to factors other than musical ability.
B The skills required to learn to play the violin are common to all musical instruments.
C High academic prowess results from the skills nurtured by learning to play an instrument.
D There is no proven correlation between musical skill and academic ability.
E Many high-ranked schools require students to learn to play an instrument at this age.

Clearly, the missing link is between Violin & Musical Instrument, which option (B) clearly matches, hence answer must be (B)

I'm still confused. If I apply negation to option B: The skills to learn other instruments is not the same => So what, Students who still learn other instruments can perform better academically just because they are learning an instrument. (I don't think the argument fails)
But, negation on option C: Academic prowess does not depend on the instrument (or something like that) => Now there is no way to guarantee that playing violin (or any other instrument for that matter) indeed leads to better academic prowess.
Confused. Help.

This is a typical correlation vs causality problem.
Option C is too strong. "High academic prowess" .. this statement tells that playing an instrument is the only way for a child to get top grades. The passage just mentioned : on average ... so there could be people who don't play an instrument but still perform better.
B is apt. One can compare apples to apples but not to oranges.
Hope this helps!

An assumption is an unstated premise. C option was found from survey results and therefore is a restatement of the conclusion.

It has been said above, but I’m putting a different spin on why (B) is not correct. I will say that (B) is so close to being correct. But...”high academic prowess” is the key. The author could have said “better academic performance,” which is part of the premise and conclusion. But the author chose to make a point that “high academic prowess” is not the same as “better academic performance.” If you assume that both mean the same thing, you’ve fallen trap to the point of this section of CR, which is to NEVER assume. (B) is plain and simple, and just so happens, it is the best choice among the answers.

I have understood from previous explanations that Why B is right. But I am not still clear why C is incorrect. Would anyone explain in detail why C is incorrect?

Option C mentions High academic prowess, which is an extreme and the arguement doesn't imply or have such strong wording.

I think, because ‘C’ draws out the reasoning involved in getting to the conclusion rather than being the assumption! He does not need to assume this option in order to come to the conclusion provided.
