Could anyone please explain why option C is incorrect? And B is a better choice than C?

Recently, animal right advocates have shown a willingness to allow scientists to perform cruel experiments on snakes and rats. This willingness betrays the very principles on which our movement depends. Protesting only the misuses of dogs, cats and chimpanzees is not enough. The same rights must be granted to all animals, regardless of how they strike our aesthetic sense. The line drawn between dogs and snakes is every bit as intolerable as that drawn between humans and dogs.

Which of the following best describes the purpose of the sentence highlighted in bold?

Bold face is trying to show analogy principle. Only B makes sense.

When dogs are getting rights against misuse as the humans are, then snakes must get their rights against misuse as dogs do get.

(A) It is the author's primary conclusion.

(B) It uses an example and analogy to add emphasis.

(C) It is the primary support of the conclusion.

(D) It implicitly rebuts criticism of the author's main point.

(E) It is irrelevant to the phenomenon described.

Hello Everyone,

Not able to get this one. How is comparison with Humans relevant here? Argument does not touch upon humans as a subject of experimentation.

Argument starts by saying that some animal right advocates have shown the willingness to allow scientists to perform cruel experiments. This willingness betrays the very principles of the movement. It's not enough to protest just for some animals. Same rights must be granted to all animals. And in the end, an analogy is presented.

Conclusion-The same rights must be granted to all animals, regardless of how they strike our aesthetic sense.

Correct answer- B
B) It uses an example and analogy to add emphasis.

Okay there's an analogy. But where's the example?
