Need to improve my timing without sacrificing my accuracy!!

Question

I have been preparing for the GMAT since the past month. I started with the my Verbal first (I know I should have gone with the quant ..My bad .. I regret it) I have the Verbal Online course by E-Gmat with me. They are quite good from non natives point of view. I am now comfortable with the approach to all the verbal sections. But I find it difficult to apply the process while solving questions under timed conditions, resulting in a significant drop of accuracy. How do I work on this timing problem?
Would need your valuable advise.

Well practice makes perfect! Just like athletes need to train in order to increase their stamina, you need to practice to increase your stamina as well. This comes slowly; you won't get better from one day to the next. You just need to practice a lot under timed conditions, and then review the problems until you understand 100% the problem itself and the solution.

Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so if you've been studying for just 1 month, then you shouldn't expect to have mastered any of this process just yet. That having been said, if there are 'inefficiencies' in how you're working (or if you're not using Tactics that might help you to solve questions faster), then that might help to explain some of the issues that you're facing. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?

Goals:
2) What is your goal score?
3) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Thank You Rich for the response. Coming to your questions:- 1) I have taken only one CAT i.e. GMAT prep to know my base score before starting off with my prep. I scored a horrible score of 460(V27 Q27). I guessed many quant answers. I just couldn't remember some of the basic math formulas and I regret about it. 2) I have a very ambitious target score of 750. I think the higher the target the better. Moreover I gotta make up for my low undergrad GPA. 3) I am planning to write my GMAT in the last week of February. 4)I am planning to apply in the year 2021. I just completed my engineering recently. 5)Too early to decide. Rich I will be grateful if you advise me on "how to improve and approach Quant".I am confident but I need to know how to crack it. Thank you

With your planned February Test Date, you have plenty of time to continue studying and improving - which is good. Since it's been about a month since you took your first CAT, I suggest that you take a new CAT soon so that we can assess how effective your studies have been so far. Make sure to take the CAT in a realistic fashion (take the FULL CAT - with the Essay and IR sections, take it away from your home, at the same time of day as when you'll take the Official GMAT, etc.). Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can discuss how best to proceed.

I have planned to take a CAT only after I touch up and polish all the concepts of Quant and Verbal. Probably will start that in December. As soon as I do that I will post it. Thank You Rich.

There are certain aspects of training for the GMAT that can really only be accomplished by taking FULL-LENGTH CATs under realistic conditions and at regular intervals. Waiting to take the CATs until the 'end' of your studies is NOT a good idea - as that significantly cuts down on the amount of time that you will have to 'fix' any areas that need fixing - including any potential issues that you might have right NOW with in the Verbal section. I understand that you haven't properly learned all of the Quant content yet, but by taking CATs at regular intervals (1 realistic CAT every 1-2 weeks), we can learn how well your Verbal studies have gone as well as how you handle your pacing, endurance, etc.
