I am looking for a prep course affordable/effective. I have found examPal. Has anyone ever used it before? Recommend or not?

Hello May,

I am in the same situation as you. I recently started going through ExamPAL’s free trial course and it seems good so far. But I am yet to upgrade to the paid package, which I am likely to do. I also noticed that they have some holiday discounts. However, it would be great to hear from someone here, who has ever used to prepare and write the GMAT.

I liked it too, at first. But I would like to hear experiences. This is because I did the toefl and I got the Magoosh membership, which I did not like it very much but the reviews were great, so as it is for exampal. That’s why I am wondering if someone have ever used it.

Hi Mayledoux,

When it comes to studying for the GMAT, there are a variety of different options. Most GMAT Companies offer some type of free materials (practice problems, Trial Accounts, videos, etc.) that you can use to 'test out' a product before you buy it. We have a variety of those resources at our website (www.empowergmat.com). I suggest that you take advantage of all of them then choose the one that best matches your personality, timeline and budget.

It sounds like you're just starting out. Is that true? Have you done any studying so far?

If you're just beginning, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can download 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a bit of practice first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the general content and question types first, then that's fine - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. A FULL CAT takes about 4 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Hey May!

I used it to study for my GMAT and found it very helpful, especially because they have video lessons and explanations of all the kinds of questions you can expect and different ways to approach them. I would highly recommend it!
