Prep guidance for Executive Assessment for EMBA

Question

Hi Folks - For those of you who have taken or preparing for the Executive Assessment, would you recommend doing a full GMAT prep course or is that an overkill ?

I know Manhattan prep has a short Masterclass for just 10 hrs but believe it's fairly new and doesn't seem all that useful on the outside when compared with their traditional full course.

Let me know if you all can share some helpful advice on what worked for your EA test prep.

Personally, I don't think it is necessary, but it should depend on how you feel about EA after taking sample questions. The positive side of EA is that it is designed to test your immediate knowledge (without much prep) instead of hours of preparation for GMAT with memorization and geometry. It is definitely more tailored to EMBA students.

Have you taken practice questions? If so, where you are on them?

Give an example, I used one weekend to prepare for EA and got 160 in the coming week. Practice questions are very similar to the real test while I felt real test is little more difficult, as I was doing a lot better in the practice questions especially in IR and Verbal sections.

I plan to write a short article to go over how I prepared when I get time in coming weeks. The biggest challenge to me and many other people is the time management, especially in IR and Verbal for me.

We help a lot of clients prepare for the EA and in general I can say that it is quicker than the GMAT. Thanks Scott. My understanding is that the only GMAT material not on the EA is Geometry and Essay? I agree the the test structure is different and shorter with equal focus on IR but didn't know content was all that different...Or do you mean just the level of questions tested on EA are lot easier than GMAT questions and so doesn't require that level of harder prep ?

I did not take GMAT in the past while I took GRE 12 years ago during my undergraduate.

Try EA practice question pool to get a feeling first. I get 60% right on IR and Verbal and 96% right on Quant.
