I have volunteer experience in helping opening a martial arts academy in a poor area in another country, as well as teaching martial arts on occasion to other students and children. However, this is all 5+ years ago (with some sporadic teaching in the past few years, but not consistently- been moving around too much). I haven't done any other community service. Is it worth including this on the application/essays/resume? I'm hesitant to stretch the truth and say it was more recent, but wondering what others do in similar situations.

I do think if you can portray it in a way that the service was beneficial to some people and what your learning is out of it, it's okay to list that on your application. Something is bettter than nothing
