TOEFL iBT Changes - MyBest Scores

Hi guys,

Despite the feature "My best score" been new to us, it's crucial to understand how it will work and also how this innovation will change the way that the grades are going to be accepted by the universities.

I read on the ETS official site that they will consolidate all the tests that one person took into one single score and it is going to be called "My best score". In order words, which means is that if you took the TOEFL twice, your best score would be a mix of both.

The question is if the universities will accept it as an official result.

Starting in August 2019, TOEFL iBT® test score reports will include a new set of scores called MyBest™ scores, in addition to the scores from a single test date. MyBest scores — sometimes generically referred to as superscores — are the highest scores on each section.

The use of MyBest scores  reflects an increasingly popular approach in university admissions of combining the highest section scores from multiple test dates.  This practice provides opportunities for test-takers to leverage their best performance on each section, demonstrate growth in areas of relative weakness and compensate for suboptimal performance caused by factors unrelated to the test. MyBest scores are valid indicators of performance. They are built from valid section scores and their validity is supported by research.

it is just a new feature, in addition, the single score. A nifty feature but nothing to worry about.

I was wondering which score should I include in the Data Forms.

MyBest Score is 111 and from a individual test is 108. For that case, considering the new feature would means breaking through the HBS 109 score recommendation.

Any thoughts?

Just took a look at it, and the directions do not open room for the MyBest Score Feature. Please see:

"If you need to submit an English language test, the same rules apply -- one valid score from  one test on one single test date . TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE scores are valid for two years after the test date."

Believe this clarifies the issue.
