S/E - represents litres of fuel in 1 hour

E is the economy in km for per litre, so for 1 km it would 1/E litre, so for 60 km - 60/E litres

RO1, Liters of fuel in 1 hr: Strategize

The Quasi JX travels E kilometers per liter of fuel \((E\frac{km}{L})\) at S kilometers per hour \((S\frac{km}{hr})\). Therefore the Quasi JX requires \(\frac{1}{E}\) liters of fuel to travel 1 km. Since the Quasi JX travels S kilometers per hour, it requires \(\frac{1}{E}\) \(\frac{L}{km}\) × S \(\frac{km}{hr}\), or \(\frac{S}{E} \frac{L}{hr}\)

The correct answer is A, \(\frac{S}{E}\).

RO2, Liters of fuel in 60 km: Strategize

The Quasi JX travels E kilometers per liter of fuel \((E\frac{km}{L})\). Therefore the Quasi JX requires \(\frac{1}{E}\) liters of fuel to travel 1 km. Given this, the Quasi JX uses 1/E L/km × 60 km, or 60/E L of fuel to travel 60 km.

The correct answer is C, \(\frac{60}{E}\)

Whenever you're confused about whether to multiply or divide, don't ask "Do I multiply or divide?" Instead, ask "What unit do I want, and what unit do I have?" The units will force the operation. If you have km/liter and want liters, divide by km/liter: Fuel = Distance ÷ (km per liter). For example, if a car gives 20 km/liter, then traveling 100 km uses 100 ÷ 20 = 5 liters, not 2000 liters. Similarly, if speed is 80 km/h and mileage is 20 km/liter, then in 1 hour the car travels 80 km and uses 80 ÷ 20 = 4 liters, so Fuel in 1 hour = Speed ÷ Mileage = S/E.

A useful rule is: to get the numerator unit, multiply; to get the denominator unit, divide. Also do a quick reality check—if your calculation gives an absurdly large or small number, you've probably used the wrong operation.
