Its not mentioned whether the decline was net of the entire period, meaning, the account could have appreciated to 450k, and declined 250k from there.

Can you help me figure out why the answer was E and not C?

My reasoning: While statements are insufficient individually, when I combine them, I reasoned that
1. Balance started at = 125k on day 1
2. balance ended at = -125k on day 30
3. hence, the balance *must* have dipped below 25k at SOME point.
4. hence margin call would've been sent, (even if he'd lost it all on day 30, the broken would've sent the margin call at end of day 30)
5. hence both statements are sufficient
