Assume A, B and C are the center of the 3 circles and r is the radius.

ABC is an equilateral triangle having each side equals to 2r and the center of the circle circumscribing the 3 identical circle lies on the centroid, E of the triangle ABC.

AE =\frac{ 2}{3} * \frac{√3}{2} * (2r) = \frac{2r}{√3}

Radius of bigger circle =  r+\frac{2r}{√3} = \frac{(2+√3)r}{√3}

Area of bigger circle =  π * ^2 = \frac{π}{3} * ^2

The triangle that connects the centre of each smaller circle (r=2) is an equilateral triangle with side of 4.

The big circle that circumscribes the above figure has a radius of  R . This radius R divides each corner angle of the equilateral triangle into 2 equal part (2*30 deg).

cos 30 deg = 2 /(R-2) = √3 /2
--> R = 4/√3 + 2

Area of big circle = π. R^2
= π.(4/√3 + 2)^2
= π/3.(4 + 2√3)^2

FINAL ANSWER IS (B)
