How many ways are there for arranging letters of the word AMAZING such that the ‘I’ appears between the two ‘A’s?

A. 24
B. 60
C. 120
D. 240
E. 720
Solution:

  • We are given the word AMAZING with the letters A, M, A, Z, I, N, G i.e., 7 letters
  • According to the question, we need to keep AIA together and in that order
  • So, we are ultimately we are left with AIA, M, Z, N, G i.e., 5 letters
  • Thus, the total number of ways \(=5!=120\)

Hence the right answer is Option C
