Demography – Indian Male – 32 years old
Education – University of Portland, 3.7 GPA, Bachelor of science in Electrical Engineering, minor in computer engineering
GMAT – 630
Work Experience – Sandeep worked in Real Estate M&A for a small RE-focused investment bank on the West Coast for his first three years out of college. During that time, he passed the first two exams for the CFA charter. He then left for a PE analyst position at Apollo Global Management in NYC, where he rose to the associate level over five years. Sandeep worked on big projects with large portfolio companies and supervised junior deal team colleagues. Then his PE career was cut short when his parents were involved in a major auto accident.
Given his wife’s demanding career as a surgery resident, his parent’s critical healthcare needs and prolonged recovery, no siblings to share the load, and toddler twin daughters, his plan to quickly go back to work was not a viable option. Now, nearly a-year-and a-half after his parents’ accident, this chapter is mostly behind them, and Sandeep is ready to reactivate his career, hoping to crack a Top-25 MBA, hoping the double whammy of hiatus from work plus age isn’t an instant deal-breaker. At present, Sandeep remains unemployed, caretaking full time, and is investing with his personal savings in his free time.
Extracurricular – Sandeep has mentored underprivileged students throughout his adult life, finding a program in his local community wherever he moves. He is also active in his alma mater’s alumni community, mentoring undergraduates and serving on various alumni councils.
Post MBA Goals – Switch from PE back to real estate, and ultimately run a real estate-focused investment fund
Client’s target list – NYU, Cornell
