Hi everyone,
About three weeks ago I took my first Official GMAT and scored a 710 (Q47, V40), and just scored a 690 on my second Official attempt (Q49, V35). Both scores canceled because they are lower than my target 730 (Q49, V40)
Quant felt great today, been taking the
GMAT Club Tests and have listened to some principles from GMAT Ninja, combo’d with
Target Test Prep, which I used exclusively before my first attempt. But verbal sucked I guess. I was thrown off in the beginning because I took a 2 minute excess on the break, but nonetheless I need to improve. I could tell that things weren’t going great because I felt that I wasn’t getting those dense passages or crazy SC Questions. Very disappointed in myself today.
I have two questions regarding my situation... ANY input would be much appreciated:
1. Do schools consider your top Quant and Verbal Scores from different exams, or do they only consider your top total score? I plan on taking the exam again regardless, but would at least have some peace of mind if they see the V40 on the first run and Q49 on the second.
2. How to proceed from here? I will admit that my emphasis on verbal practice has declined over the last few weeks (vacation, interviews/pending job offer, etc). Quant practice picked up with new sources/variety, but overall study volume decreased.
I have another GMAT exam scheduled for 10/31. I think I will keep doing what I’ve been doing on Quant (
gmat Club Tests, Logs) but not sure what to do on Verbal. Bulk of my studying has been OG Questions and Logs. Verbal practice never had clear structure, and I guess it has showed through scores.
Thank you very much in advance. Appreciate ANY input/advice/critique
