Scholarships and Deposit Payment

Question

If you get a scholarship from a school, are you still required to pay the deposit? Or does the scholarship automatically cover the deposit?

That's a darn good question. I am trying to remember

... I got a full scholarship and I don't remember paying the desposit (not sure what it would go towards what).... just had to accept the offer online and then my deposit showed $0.... but if it is anything but the full scholarship you will need to pay it. P.S. A school may have weird rules for some reason but I am pretty sure you won't have a deposit with a full ride. You can always email the adcom and clarify if you got a full ride. That's a pretty good question they would be happy to address.

It really depends on the school. I agree - some of them have quite weird rules... I remember that one student of mine applied to the University of Florida, and he has got the same question. If I'm not mistaken, he had to submit the deposit to confirm his enrollment. The AdCom responded something like, "possibly, your scholarship will cover the deposit when the scholarship is disbursed". But possibly.

Accordingly, the best way to know it is to clarify this question with an admission officer.

Thank you. I eventually got a partial scholarship and still had to pay the deposit. All the schools I got admitted to (all partial scholarships) still required a deposit payment.

Providing this clarification in case someone else has the concern at another time.
