Great questions above from Kinshook. Definitely depending on the number of years you are with the current company, it may show job hopping (which may look bad) or career progression to move to the second company. I have two more thoughts for you to consider:
-Staying at your current company without a promotion does not necessarily need to be a bad thing. Although promotions are the sure way to show career progression in your application, you can also do so by expanding responsibility or diversity of projects you are involved in. Additionally if these projects are consistent with your MBA story then you are are on track. Lastly staying knowing you will go for the MBA dream also means you can intentionally invest in relationships that will yield great recommendations for your application.
-Secondly, of the two companies, which one is more consistent with your MBA story? It is helpful in your application to show a commitment to a certain industry or learning path that you want to be in in the future. It makes your why MBA more believable.
Good luck with your decision!
