Hi all,
After about 3 months of prep (~6 hours a day) using TTP for Quant and Manhattan Prep for Verbal I took my first Official GMAT Practice Exam and got a 710 (Q47, V40, IR7). I'm pretty happy with this but want to make sure that it's not a fluke and can build on this performance. I took this under full GMAT timing conditions, in a quiet place (not my house), and wore a mask (I will be taking the real exam in person).
I plan on taking 4-5 more Official GMAT Practice Exams before my test date (January 20, 2021) and wanted to get a sense of how I should seek to build out my skillset and improve upon this score. I have a few questions that hopefully some more experienced members can help answer.
1. How accurate is the GMAT Official Practice Exam? Is this benchmark at least moderately effective?
2. During both Quant and Verbal (but especially Verbal) the exam felt incredibly challenging and I felt that I was narrowing choices down to 2 options and "going with my gut". Is this a normal feeling to have as one becomes more comfortable with the types of questions or should this be cause for concern?
3. Where do I go from here? How can I best improve upon my overall score given the Q47 and V40 breakdown?

A score of 710 in the GMAT practice test tells the entire story about how well prepared you are for the GMAT official test and how to change the gear now to meet the target score in reality.
With my GMAT tutoring, guidance, and counseling experience, we have to accept the fact with a pinch of salt that diagnostic/ mock test scores are above then what one should expect in a real test. There is often dropping in the score. Some students have even experienced a drop of 100 pointers. It is one of the realities, and your preparation should not sideline this fact.

A couple of things that can be a noticeable barrier to your scores would be some or all of the below.
• Inefficiency by using time-consuming Conventional methods to tackle DS and PS questions still.
• No expert support (maybe) who can tutor, analyze, and guide you during your learning especially on hard level questions while stably hitting middle-level questions.
• Lack of many updated questions and practice in the recent exam trend.
• Not well aligned with time to solve questions.

We recommend that you must learn the Variable Approach for solving DS questions and the IVY approach for solving PS questions in order to improve your accuracy and save time while solving the question types.

Gradually, with the help of mock tests, you will be able to compete with time and therefore, will be able to learn time-management.
