[quote="bb"]It is a good question but I don't think that taking the GMAT 4 times vs. 6 times will have much of a bearing on you.
You should not kick yourself really - you did the right thing and answered the question honestly. This way you won't be stressed out during the interview or at other times about having to conceal this information.
The question of multiple GMAT Scores has been brought up a few times and discussed a few times as well. It depends if you are a glass half-full/half-empty type of a person. Taking multiple attempts and preparing may indicate one's persistence and the fact that they did not feel happy with their score or felt they could do better. Also indicates a lot of intent if you took it 6 times even between the 2 tests.
At the same time, it could indicate a cleaner execution if you took it once and got the score you wanted (above school's average); in my view it is a weaker application if you took the test once and did not get to the school's average. Imagine Booth has a 720 average and you apply wiht just a single 700. That tells the adcom not that you are amazing in other ways but rather than you thought 700 was amazing for you or that you did not have the time to take it again and did not put much effort into it or that perhaps you are applying for lower ranked schools and this is just playing a lottery....
Thank you
bb for your insights, they make me feel better about my decision. I hope that is what the adcom will assume- that I was persistent and that the 6 times was a combo of both GMAT and GRE (bc they can see my 3 non-cancelled Gmat attempts...). Still a confusing question, esp when we had to option to upload both GMAT and GRE...but hopefully honesty works some good karma!
