Hi kubekzlota,

I agree that 710 (with Q51) is a very solid GMAT score! The fact is, if you can get your verbal score up to 39 it will certainly increase your overall GMAT score. That said, why don’t you reach out to some admissions consultants here on GMAT Club and if the general consensus is that you should give the GMAT one more shot, then feel free to reach back out and I’d be happy to provide some further advice.

Hi,
so I come to you with quite common question, should I retake? :P
I've just received my GMAT Online scores (after 2,5 business days so not bad timing) and they are as follow: Overall 710, Q51, V34, IR 8, AWA N/A.
Im pretty happy with my quant (Still, I was believing to score that mystique 52 :P) but I was scoring it regularly throughout my mocks so it is not such a surprise (same case with 8 in IR, not a surprise for me).
Im disappointed though with verbal, cuz it was always my big problem, but always was scoring at that 36-39 level. I've been learning with manhattan books and CR was very easy for me (90%+ rate on hard questions from OG) RC was so so but SC I was never able to understand. I read all theory from book couple of times but in the end was not able to do hard questions (also english is not my native language, so I have no instinct in those questions)
I want to apply in R1 for MiM at LBS, 2022 intake and I was hoping to get a merit scholarship there. I have pretty nice profile IMO, a lot of extracurricular activities at university and outside of it (various projects at society, I was team captain in sport team for couple years etc) GPA just above 3.6, various competitions (e.g. I was at International Economics Olympiad in St. Petersburg and scored quite well in High School, while at uni I was in regional finals of P&G CEO Challenge and I got few more, various competitions in my CV) Also got some work experience in banking and fintech industries and Im in process of applying for internship in consulting for upcoming summer. I wanted to top it up with score around 740-750 (Q51, V40 was my goal) to maximize my chances to get that scholarship.
Would you say that getting that Verbal score to areas of 40 will make significant difference in scholarship evaluation? Or Q51 and IR 8 are enough and I should focus on other parts of my application?
If retaking is the way I should follow, what adjustments in preparation you recommend? I have heard gmat whiz with it's adjustable course is a good way to score high in verbal?
I know that in the end it is my call and I will spent significant amount of time on thinking about it, but every comment from more experienced people will be appreciated.

Best,
Jakub

Hey Jakub

Congratulations on your amazing score! You should definitely give a try to improve on your verbal score. Practice from the Official guides, other practice materials from MBA. com and take mocks from MBA. com .

While GMAT score is definitely important to get admission with scholarship - other aspect also play a very vital role in securing admission with full scholarship. For example your profile, the instances where you have demonstrated Leadership Potential or example where you went beyond the regular and did something different that can make you stand out in the crowd. So I would recommend you to work on GMAT if you feel that you can definitely increase your score, but focus more on building your profile. Start working on things that will make you stand-out until you apply to get an upper-hand at getting scholarships.

Hope that helps.
