Hey
chinmayektare,
I was in your shoes a couple of weeks back and the whole process of figuring out the right consultant took a toll on me (especially owing to the heavy cost associated with it). I spoke to at least 20 consultants and made a heavy checklist for myself while evaluating. Following are the key pointers one should keep in mind when getting on a call with consultants, I believe:
Will the consultant be able to:
1. Identify the specific gaps in your profile and make up for them
2. Make your story absolutely unique despite the fact you belong to an overrepresented pool
3. Give you a realistic picture of your pitch with respect to the schools you are targeting.
I ended up working with
MBA and Beyond (currently working with them for R1 deadlines for 5 schools). You might want to look them up and get on a call with them for a profile evaluation. It was actually when I learnt about their process on the call, I made my decision. They also work with limited applicants in each season, so they are able to bring out great quality in your application.
Hope you find this helpful

Hi there. I have reached a split with regards to the decision of choosing an admission consultant. My GMAT is in the coming month and i want to start looking for a consultant simultaneously. I have gone through most of the reviews on Gmat club for different admission consultants based in the US but for an Indian applicant the charges are a little steep compared to those of Indian admission consults. I have seen negative feedback about some Indian consultants with regards to lack of depth in the application etc.
Given this is my one shot i don’t want to compromise on the quality but also want to know if the expensive investment is worth it.
I want to hear from some Indian applicants who have taken the US based consulting services and how it has turned out for them.
Any recommendations highly appreciated.
My Target Gmat score 700-720.
4 years of work ex in a big 4 consulting firm and I belong to the highly over represented category(Indian IT Male).
I have decent achievements in extra curricular.
I tried to look for a thread regarding this but couldn’t find one. Please help.
Thanks
Chinmay
