So here's my story - Male Non engineer, Have an experience in sales of 2 years, Quit my job suddenly because it was very monotonus and secondly i always had a passion for marketing but didn't get any scope in companies because mostly corporates don't hire BBA grads in marketing sector, I want to give Gmat and get into a top college which specialises in marketing, but the sad part is I suck big time in quants (just pass marks in board exams), and just to check where I stand gave a mock today and scored 280( Q-19,V-12) which literally broke me into pieces, This is my only attempt this year as I already have a gap year so can't take any more.
Please guide me about how I should proceed from now. Neither my profile is good nor scores.

Hi sidharth7510,
To start, many GMATers are unhappy with their initial practice scores, but you really shouldn't be. That 280 is just a measure of your skills right now - and you'll improve on that result over time as you learn more about the content, Tactics and little 'secrets' of the Exam.
From what you describe, you're going to have to make improvements to more than just your GMAT Score though. If your overall profile is 'weak' right now, then you'll need some time to properly strengthen it - and depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you might have to make some really specific improvements. This is meant to say that you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Go through the reviews, maybe try a few trials and get the feel about which course seems to meet your needs.
I would personally recommend TargetTestPrep, they have an amazing trial which you can go through.

Did you prepare at all before that first practice test? If not, then your real baseline score is likely somewhat higher than 280, because you would not even have been familiar with the question types when taking that first practice test, and thus, your having to figure out how even to answer the questions would have been a factor in your performance.
Regarding quant, the truth is that many people start off weak in GMAT quant and then find that increasing their quant scores is a matter of taking one step at a time and working topic by topic until they hit their quant score goals. In other words, GMAT quant is eminently learnable.
For some inspiration, you could check out this debrief written by a GMAT test-taker who worked her way from 250 on her first GMAT to 780 on her last.
