Washing dishes by hand uses a much larger amount of water as using a machine although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space.

A. as using a machine although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space
as stop right there than is the better usageg therefore out

B. than using a machine does although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space
does inclusion i think is not serving any great purpose however let us hang on to it

C. than using a machine although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space
the omission of does gives better clarity therefore let us hang onto it

D. than using a machine does although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and large spaces
large spaces isn't conveying the right meaning therefore out

E. than using a machine does although machines require maintenance, electrical, and take up space
use is a necessary addition to maintain parallelism therefore out

Inclusion of unnecessary terms isn't the ideal option therefore IMO C

Washing dishes by hand uses a much larger amount of water as using a machine although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space.

A. as using a machine although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space - Incorrect usage of 'as' for a comparison. Incorrect

B. than using a machine does although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space - Correct. Corrects the issue with parallelism and comparison.

C. than using a machine although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space - Comparison error. Incorrect

D. than using a machine does although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and large spaces - Issue with parallelism. Incorrect.

E. than using a machine does although machines require maintenance, electrical, and take up space - Issue with parallelism. Incorrect.

IMO B

Washing dishes by hand uses a much larger amount of water as using a machine although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space.

Much larger warrants than in order to compare correctly.

A. as using a machine although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space
'as' usage is incorrect and not contrasting correctly between washing(by hand) & using( by machine). Also, we need to compare 2 actions. Eliminate

B. than using a machine does although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space
Fixes error in option A, and the comparison is between 2 actions which is grammatically correct. Keep

C. than using a machine although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and take up space
Fixes error in option A, but the comparison is between actions and a noun, 'using a machine'. Eliminate

D. than using a machine does although machines use electricity, require maintenance, and large spaces
Fixes error in option A, but the parallel is not maintained in the list items. Eliminate

E. than using a machine does although machines require maintenance, electrical, and take up space
Fixes error in option A, but the parallel is not maintained in the list items( electrical is an adjective). Eliminate

So B is the best answer choice.

Correct Option B

Sentence exam:
- comparison (correct idiom :X than Y)
X : washing dishes by hand.
Y : using machine.
- Parallelism list of (verb)(noun)

A. as using a machine (?) although machines
- use electricity,
- require maintenance, and
- take up space
Wrong:
- wrong idiom, X as Y, comparison needs to be done by X than Y
- no verb for machine.
- Parallelism is correct

B. than using a machine does although machines
- use electricity,
- require maintenance, and
- take up space
Correct :
- Correct comparison idiom X than Y
- Parallelism is correct
- machine has verb "does" - SV Agreement

C. than using a machine (?) although machines
- use electricity,
- require maintenance, and
- take up space
Wrong :
- SV Agreement error, verb for machine is missing

D. than using a machine does although machines
- use electricity,
- require maintenance, and
- large spaces(Adjective)(noun)
Wrong - Parallelism error.

E. than using a machine does although machines require
- maintenance,
- electrical, and
- take up space
Wrong - Parallelism error.
