A leader needs to be selected from a group of students. If 30% of the students have good leadership qualities and 65% of the students have good management skills, what is the difference between the maximum and the minimum probability of selecting a student who has neither of the two skills mentioned above?

let us consider the 2 cases :
Max probability : For this to happen we need the 2 possibilities to overlap as much as possible so that the probability of the third possibility ( which is neither) . If both overlap completely, then they become equal to 65%
Therefore max Probability = 100 - 65 = 35%
Min probability : the exact opposite should happen. no overlapping whatsoever .
Min probability = 100 - (65+30) = 5%
Ans - 35 - 5 = 30%

Above table gives the max. probability \(= \frac{35}{100}\)

This table gives the minimum probability \(= \frac{5}{100}\)
Hence the difference between max and min probabilty \(= \frac{35}{100} - \frac{5}{100} = \frac{30}{100} = .30\)
