Hmmm. I would say 2 things and wonder if anyone who ran into this issue can share. I am going to side in the side of the lag on the schools side.

1. Can you go back into the system and search for the program codes? Meaning use the code that the school uses or tells people to use and see if it matches what you have sent or see id it would allow you tip send again? (Perhaps you tried already)

2. If your deadlines are not until Jan, you can wait until Dec 6th and see how it goes. You can also check in school discussions and ask there if or how fast others have had the scores reflected in their applications.

Bonus crazy idea. Send your score to a low ranked school such as Haslam or Mendoza who would immediately spam you and see if they would be more prompt with reflecting it or outreach. Be warned - you will be spammed and they will get your house address and send you catalogs and crap. 😇

Thank you for your timely response! That is actually interesting. I did double-check the institution code and the school I sent it to. The funny thing is if I do search through the institution code that the schools I applied to provided. There is either no match or a random university shows up. For example, the University of Utah said their institution code is K0R-S3-97 when I searched it, the University of Korea showed up. So I had to search by school names and find their program that way. Could this have been the problem? Maybe I will send the score to a lower-ranked school and see what happens, I mean that sounds like a good idea since I have been getting calls for my expiring car insurance almost every day anyways ( I don't have a car). Thank you for the suggestion.

Wow. This is weird. I get daily calls for a trip that I either won or should win or will win from somebody in Florida. They change the phone number each time by a few digits and it’s a game of whack-a-mole. I never pick up and they always leave a voice message… maybe I disrupt the flow of universe and actually pick up the phone one time?

At the same time, I feel that if your account says you submitted the score and you have received the score way before the deadline, there is no fault on your side although it is good to be proactive and to have a record of you reaching out. Which is why I would recommend email actually so you do have a record…

Thank you for the advice. I have emailed all the schools I have applied to. I hope this is just a normal lag. fingers crossed.

No I have not, I called them, they said it is not their business hour. So I sent them an email. No response yet.

Hi Jacobljj1,

The responses that you've received from the Schools so far are likely from people who don't necessary know the application policies involved. The only reason a School would want to review your Official Score Report is IF you have actually applied to that School AND the School's Reps are interested in you (and those Reps want to confirm that your Official Score matches the results that you listed on your application). Otherwise, it's unlikely that anyone wants to spend time verifying that your Official Report is available - since again, you haven't even applied yet.

Once you have submitted ANY of your applications, you might THEN consider reaching out to the School in question to confirm that the School has been given access to your Official Report.

Hi Rich,
It does seem like most schools don't require an official score until they showed interest in me. However, for some schools, they do ask me to send official scores before they consider me, like the University of conneticit. It is weird but it is their policy. And for the schools that I sent the scores to, I have already applied to all of them. All other materials were submitted, except for the official scores. For that reason, I am confused about what is happening. Still no words yet. Do you have any other guesses?

Hi Jacobljj1,

From the discussion so far, it wasn't clear that you had already submitted your applications. How long ago did you submit them?

If it was relatively recent (re: the last couple of weeks), then it's possible that your applications haven't even been reviewed yet (or that they have and you've been "wait-listed"). In either of those situations, the Schools wouldn't have bothered looking at your Score Report yet. At this point, I do NOT think that it's a good idea for you to repeatedly contact the Schools to ask about your Score Report (as that might paint you as some type of nuisance), but once we're a few weeks past the application deadline(s), then it would be reasonable to contact the Schools (just to confirm that there were no issues with accessing your Report).

Hi RIch,

Thank you for your advice. I submitted my applications about four weeks ago, at the same time as I submitted my applications I submitted my GMAT scores. To the five schools I applied to, their deadlines are Dec. 1st. Two of these five schools said that they required an official GMAT score before processing the application. They are Utah and Connecticut. I was worried that if I don't get this sorted before their deadline, which is just in a few days. Would they even consider my application? It would be such a waste to go through everything and get denied because my official scores didn't arrive on time.

Hi Jacobljj1,

If the deadlines are December 1st, then it's possible that Schools simply have not attempted to view your Score Report yet (and from an administrative standpoint, I can't imagine that any Program Reps would want to log in day-after-day checking to see if the Scores have become available, since the applicants would technically have until the deadline to submit their Scores).

From a functional-standpoint, this all comes down to the Score-reporting Tool (through www.mba.com) - and making sure that you correctly chose the Schools that you wanted to receive your Official Score Report. Based on the importance of those 'steps' in the process, your immediate concerns can only be handled by the Customer Service Team at www.mba.com.

The fact that any Program would ask for your Official Score first still strikes me as odd - as it adds extra work for the Admissions Committee and could potentially impact the number of applications received. Are the application policies from these 2 Schools listed on their respective websites? If so, can you provide a link to either of them (as I'd be curious to read through the specific language used)?

Rich

Consider writing an email to any school (if there becomes a need to) explaining the situation. Perhaps attach some correspondence with GMAC about the delay in Official scores.
