Jessica and Andy take a vacation at their grandparents' house. During the vacation, they do any activity together. They either played tennis in the evening or practiced Yoga in the morning, ensuring that they do not undertake both the activities on any single day. There were some days when they did nothing. Out of the days that they stayed at their grandparents' house, they involved in one of the two activities on 22 days. However, their grandmother while sending an end of vacation report to their parents stated that they did not do anything on 24 mornings and they did nothing on 12 evenings. How long was their vacation?

I think it's D.
Let the number of times they played tennis = b
Let the number of times they did yoga = c
Let the times they did nothing = d
We know that b+c = 22
Therefore:
b+d = 24
c+d = 12
Adding the two equations, we get:
b+c+2d = 36
We know from before that b+c = 22; 2d must therefore be 14 (and d = 7).
Then, we know that c = 5
5+24 = 29.

There are three variables here and all are independent.
x = activity done on morning
y = activity done on evening
z= no activity done
From the question stem we know
x+y= 22 |*
Also from the question stem we know
They didnt do anything on 24 morning i.e y+z = 24 |eq1
They didn't do anything on 12 evenings i.e x+z = 12 |eq2
adding eq1 and eq2
x+y+2z = 36
22+2z=36 |from *
z=7
How long was the vacation = x+y+z = 22+7 = 29 D
