Solution:
This question is testing comparisons, a topic that many GMAT students lose easy points on. We have to compare similar parts of speech. In this case the original version A compares a clause “The production of meats demands significantly more land resources” to a noun phrase “the production of an equivalent amount of fresh produce”.
AB: Improper comparison missing a verb for the second subject.
BCD: Incorrect subject-verb number agreement with subject production:
