Hey Andrew

Thanks for the valuable guidance and feedback.

I was not able to figure out what to do so did the only thing which i thought would be the best "Ask the experts".

Thanks for the input and would surely explore few options before deciding what goes well for me.

Regards and thanks again.

Himanshu

Greetings GMAT family.

I am non native speaker of english from India and yesterday i gave my GMAT. I scored V18 and Q47 with total score of 540.

I studied from Manhattan prep material and gave official GMAT mocks where i was scoring the same score.

Please guide how to work over my verbal section , what books to follow, what strategies to be undertaken.

Even if it requires to start from scratch, i am ready to do that but i need to appear again after 3 months for the exam. Please help and guide.

Regards

Himanshu
Hello, Himanshu. Your Quant score is decent, sufficient to show that you possess foundational knowledge of many of the topics tested. Your Verbal score, on the other hand, suggests that you do not have a consistent and reliable method for tackling the questions, most likely across the board. Since you have already used the Manhattan Prep guides, I doubt any print material will prove any better for your purposes. You might be a good candidate for an e-course. As chance would have it, someone recently posted [/forum/road-to-750-a-6-month-journey-380030 that praised e-GMAT specifically for its Verbal platform. Of course, you are welcome to check out the Marketplace and reviews on this site and others, but an e-course could save you money in the long run (as opposed to private tutoring).

I commend you for admitting that you need help, and for being open to the idea that you may need to start from the ground up. Such an attitude, combined with a strong work ethic and organization, can lead to the type of success story you read about in the forum from time to time (say, a 400-to-700 leap).

Good luck with your studies. Whatever path you decide to take, put everything you have into the effort. A lot can change in a few months.

Hi [forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&un=himanshu18nda]himanshu18nda[/url],

SC plays a great role in overall verbal score improvements. If you are good at SC, you can get the meaning of sentences and passages and read anything with a good speed, so focusing more on SC should be a good idea. Magoosh SC video lessons are great for concepts. When you are done with concepts, you can use gmat club resources for SC, RC, and CR.

Best Wishes!
