Bunuel money is $300
Doug $ 600
Chuck money ; 300/2.5 ; 120
net sum = 300+600+120; 1020
option A

GMATNinja
Last week, Buñuel earned 150% more money than Chuck, but only 50% as much as Doug. If Doug made $600 last week, what was the combined income of all three people?

(A) $1020
(B) $1050
(C) $1100
(D) $1860
(E) $1950
Please explain, why are we dividing 300 by 2.5?

Lets say Chuck earns $C and Bunuel earns $300 (given)
So, \(300=C+C*\frac{150}{100}\)
or, \(300=C(1+1.5)\)
or, \(300=2.5C\)
or, \(C=\frac{300}{2.5}=120\)

Since Buñuel made 50% as much money as Dough,
The money earned by Buñuel = 600*50/100 = $300
Also, since Buñuel made 150% more money than Chuck,
The money earned by Chuck = 300/250% = 300/2.5 = $120

So, the total amount earned by all three people = $(300 + 120 + 600) = $1020.

Thus, the correct option is A.

That one was tricky... Well done GMAT Ninja!!

What I have read quickly: "Buñuel earned 150% of Chuck's money"

So B = 1.5C

However, the question is actually saying: "Buñuel earned 150% more money than Chuck"

Meaning B = (1+1.5)C = 2.5C

Then, B = 0.5D; We know D = 600$, so automatically B = 300$. From the first equation, if B = 300$, C = (300*2)/5 = 120$

Answer: B + C + D = 600 + 300 + 120 = 1020
(Option A)
