My answer is  (D) . It took me 41 seconds. For this question, I did not need to read the non-underlined part of the section.

(A) "like" is not a conjunction; "like" cannot introduce a clause.

(B) "so too" should work in "Just as....so (too)" pair.

(C) "Robert Rauschenberg's disdain" cannot be compared with "Jasper Johns, Larry Cornell, and other modern artists".

(D) "Robert Rauschenberg" can indeed to compared with "Jasper Johns, Larry Cornell, and other modern artists".

(E) We can eliminated this option from two different perspectives.
(1) For comparison, "as" should be used as a conjunction. It is currently used as a preposition. 
(2) "Just as..." should be followed by "so (too)".

Lets Start with meaning analysis :-

Here the authors says-->just the way JJ,LC and other modern artists disdained the use of realistic figures in their painting. So did RR.

Similarity between action of JJ , LC ,other modern artists and RR is shown here.
