I guess « large scale » is a modifier that modifies cutting?

(A) The forests are being cut on a large scale these days, which is a factor contributing to global warming.- 'which' cannot jump to refer to forrest being cut. It instead is refering to these days. No. nop. nope.

(B) The forests are being cut on a large scale these days, this is a factor contributing to global warming.- this doesn't give clarity on what is a factor. As far as I know using this, that to refer to previous knowledge in the sentence isn't liked by gmat.
can someone help me out here with cases where this is actually correct on gmat it'll help me understand better and remove this bias of mine toward this.


(C) The large scale cutting of forests these days is a factor contributing to global warming.

(D) Contributing to global warming, the large scale cutting of forests these days is a factor. - here contributing to global warming modifies the large scale cutting which is a factor for what? It's incomplete.

(E) The fact that forests are being cut on a large scale these days is a factor g to global warming. - the fact that and is a factor are redundant
