The Algebra on this one is straightforward enough that it just might be the best way to get to the right answer, but I sure do love PITA (Plugging In The Answers)!!
From B, C, and D, none looks meaningfully easier than the others to work with, so I'll just pick C.
If the total profit were $460 and 10% goes to charity, we'd have $414 remaining. P is entitled to 5/8ths. 5/8ths of $400 is $250, so 5/8ths of $414 is $252. That's not $270, so C is wrong. Do we want something larger, or something smaller? Larger, so D and E are wrong. Between A and B, neither looks meaningfully easier to work with than the other, so let's try A.
