I found this question super confusing as I kept reading Ps contribution to the charity is 270..
But if you consider P's profit (after deducting 10 percent from the total profit) is 270, you can solve the question -

X total profit
.9X -> PROFIT AFTER DONATION TO CHARITY

Since P and Q have invested money in a certain ratio, we can conclude that their profits will follow the same pattern.

Therefore P's profit (270) = .9X * 5/8 [Ps investment was 5 parts of 8]

x = 480

Profit by P=270 after 10% reduction
Hence actual profit of P=300

Ratio of p : q = 5:3
Therefore if P is 300, Q is 180 (unitary method)

Total profit 480
