Hi All,
I recently decided to retake the GMAT after scoring a 690 in my first attempt. Sharing some of my ;learnings from the preparation here
1. A year and a half before I gave the exam, I had enrolled for the Jamboree in-class course. Though it was a good start, since they teach the basic tips and tricks that one needs to know to tackle such exams, my mistake was that I lost momentum. Instead of keeping up with my preparation and scheduling the exam, I kept postponing it and wasn't practicing as regularly. Due to this, the course didn't really help me since i didn't have access to any of the online resources by the time I was ready to give the test. For me, it was the two months of self-preparation that i ultimately ended up doing.
So I would say know when to give your exam, and work backwards from there.
2. I haven't used the official guide much apart from getting a basic understanding of questions patterns. This is maily because we have some amazing resources available (after filtering out the chaotic web of resources that you can find on the internet). I would say stick to a few, GMAT Club definitely being on of them, and keep practicing
3. Two weeks before the first attempt, i was mainly giving mocks. I started with trying all the free mocks such as from mba.com,
Manhattan prep, kaplan and event the GMAT Club free CAT. This is the most important part for time management, which you can get a hang of only with practice. No one can advice you on the best strategy, because you have to find what works for you.
4. For the retake, I am mainly practicing questions, finding my weak areas and then practicing some more
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
