Matching marbling patterns of the past is an important part of what the staff at the Global publishing office does. Workers are often asked to recreate designs, so that routine publications such as the Jefferson Manual look consistent from year to year. However, there are also publishing jobs that offer opportunities for plenty of creativity.

The information in the passage most strongly supports the following?

A - Classic marbling pattern replication is the primary responsibility of Global publishing office staff members.
There is not enough information to check whether Classic marbling pattern replication is the primary responsibility of Global publishing office staff members.

B - Publication of the Jefferson Manual is an activity lacking opportunity for any creativity.
There are also publishing jobs that offer opportunities for plenty of creativity. negates the statement.

C - There is an extensive library of past Global publishing Office publications available to current staff members.
Since Matching marbling patterns of the past is an important part of what the staff at the Global publishing office does, there must be an extensive library of past Global publishing Office publications available to current staff members.

D - A lack of creative responsibilities is a major impediment to hiring newly qualified staff at Global Publishing Office.
There is no information regarding major impediment to hiring newly qualified staff

E - The cost of recreating marbling patterns is less than the cost of drafting entirely new patterns.
There is no mention regarding costs of recreating marbling patterns in the passage.

Hi DmitryFarber !

Can you please specify if the answer to this question is (B) or (C)

someone says the OA is (B)

analyzing it makes (B) also logical

because as per the last line, publishing jobs have opportunities for creativity
would imply that the publishing of Jefferson Manual lacks creativity

so (B) aligns as per the last line

however, (C) is also correct since the matching of patterns is done from the "past patterns" and this is done "year to year"

but (C) has a slight red flag "Extensive"

the repository of patterns may or may not be extensive

but this was just a very slight flaw, which I thought can be overlooked

SO then, which would be the correct answer, B or C

if you could explain, would be of great help
thanks in advance!

You're being too kind to these answers. None of them are correct, and this question really doesn't look much like an official CR. Ignore!

Just to cover B and C quickly before we move on:

(B) We're told that some other jobs offer "plenty of opportunities for creativity." This seems to indicate that the previously mentioned job is not one of these. But that doesn't mean it lacks any opportunity for creativity. That's a very extreme answer!

(C) has absolute zero support of any kind. We have no idea what source workers use to recreate past patterns. An extensive library of past publications would certainly make sense, but that doesn't mean that this is what's used. Maybe people just have to find the past publications in a public library or online. Maybe only the patterns are retained. Maybe there is a library, but it's not extensive. Maybe only a few key samples are needed. We just don't know anything about this.

So again, ignore questions like this. Verbal questions are hard to write, and there's really not much use studying unofficial questions.
