Hello all,
I posted yesterday with my test day horror story. Short version - technical issues caused a 3-hour delay mid-exam and asked for a reschedule which was not granted. IR section glitched and would not show graphs related to the questions, needed to answer them.
Now I am waiting to hear back from GMAC about a cancellation, voucher and rescheduling. Regardless of what they say, I will be retaking. Ideally, they would acknowledge the problems were on their end and it would be free. Ideally, it would happen before EOW. I am not holding my breath though.
Because of this I either have another 7-18 days before I can reattempt. I would continue to practice during this time.
My journey was as follows:
Cold Princeton Review full exam - 670
Cold Official Mock #1 - 640 Q42 V36 IR 5
Study for 1.5-2 months Quant OG (some GMATNinja vid supplements) + Verbal with GMATNinja Series
Attempt Official Mock #1 again - 740 Q48 V44 IR8
Attempt Official Mock #2 - 760 Q48 V46 IR7
*When I say cold attempt, I literally mean cold. I didn't even know what the format of the exam was.
I scheduled my official and went through the nightmare 20 minutes into quant, my first section.
Result: 690 Q45 V39 IR2
I am aware that the exam, given what happened, does not necessarily reflect my abilities very accurately. At the same time, I can't help but think that I managed to still score Q45 on Quant despite the issue. Verbal is not my strong suit, but I had developed a good strategy (thank you, @GMATNinja!) that helped me score over 40 on the two final mocks - and do well on other loose OG/official questions. The stress of the moment (coupled with not having eaten, a headache, whatever) probably clouded my ability to focus and made me revert back to old bad habits.
Having said all this, what are your recommendations?
Should I purchase practice tests #3&4 to actually measure my performance on a different set?
Should I focus instead of sharpening my verbal skills exclusively?
Maybe I am still a little too upset to actually see how to make the most of the situation/what to do/if to do another official practice.
Any and all thoughts will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
