The revival of Kranland’s automobile industry is being pitched as a beacon of hope in an economy that has been broadly flat for the most part of the last two years. It is being suggested that the industry can help boost the country’s economy by increasing its manufacturing output and resultant exports, and create high quality jobs. However, many economists claim that even if automobiles companies help increase the country’s exports, they will not be a major source of new jobs over the long term.

Which of the following best explains the reason for the doubt expressed by the economists?

A. The automobile industry does not create low-quality jobs.
Ok so? It can still create high quality jobs, which can be source of job growth. Eliminate

B. Even though the exports of Sonic Automobiles, a manufacturing company in Kranland, grew more than 20% in the last year, its number of employees grew only by 5%.
Ok so? There is still growth even if the growth is at a slower pace to growth in exports.

C. The automobile industry is a capital intensive industry and frequently goes through cycles of growth and recession.
Ok so? Where are we talking of jobs here? Eliminate

D. To succeed in the global manufacturing industry, a company has to be extraordinarily efficient, requiring the use of the same workforce for more production.
Interesting! Experts are talking about automobile industry helping in exports, but the convention says that to be successful globally (Aka more exports) comes with a trade off/cost of making use of same workforce aka no growth in jobs while increasing production. Bingo! Thats what we are exactly looking for!

E. Ranland’s automobile companies are financially well off than their Kranlandian peers and can cut down their prices to gain market share
Absolutely irrelvant

QS: Support the economists' doubt

A: 1st. Broadly flat----> A beacon of hope
2nd. man.output & exports---->boosted economy--->create h.q. jobs.
However,
If auto. comps increase Exports----> no new jobs

A. The automobile industry does not create low-quality jobs. What about high quality or else mid quality jobs? Partial. OUT

B. Even though the exports of Sonic Automobiles, a manufacturing company in Kranland, grew more than 20% in the last year, its number of employees grew only by 5%.----> It somehow creates jobs. OUT

C. The automobile industry is a capital intensive industry and frequently goes through cycles of growth and recession.--->Growth and Recession? This may create or lose jobs. Neutral. OUT

D. To succeed in the global manufacturing industry, a company has to be extraordinarily efficient, requiring the use of the same workforce for more production.----> If no change in # of employees---->then succeed. This shows companies need not to hire employees to succeed. Keep it.

E. Ranland’s automobile companies are financially well off than their Kranlandian peers and can cut down their prices to gain market share-----> This is additional info that describes the companies of what they can do. OUT

D is correct
