Love the idea of basket weaving or golf… you probably will be fine with those.
So taking specific classes is not going to add a whole lot of value to your application. You will have to take the GMAT or GRE so you clearly will have basic quant and verbal abilities so you don’t need to prove anything and there’s no requirement for business school admissions. You can apply as a biology major or as a business major so how do you compare those transcripts from those two applicants?
I think for electives you may want to pursue a slightly different approach:
1. Make sure you get a 4.0
2. Take interesting classes you are genuinely interested in
3. Take classes that would fit a story. For example if you were going into finance and you say you’re really passionate about finance then basket weaving and French poetry classes may look a little odd on the transcript.
4. Don’t take hard classes. You will not get any credit for that
5. Take classes that may help you with immediate needs… if there are any
PS. Protect your GPA. It has been a pretty significant component of your candidacy evaluation in the past and it seems that me only grow within certainty about standardized tests. In the latest update, US news has increased the contribution of school’s average GPA into the rankings.
