From statement 1 it is clearly insufficient because we don't know the sign of p and q

From statement 2 also it is insufficient because here also we don't know the signs

From combining statement 1 and 2 ,it is possible to answer, the product of pr is greater than 0.
 .

Statement 1- Either both p and q are +ve or -ve - NS
Statement 2- q is -ve (<0) and 1/r is +ve (<0), so even r is +ve OR q is +ve and 1/r and r are -ve - NS

Combining both statements:

p and q have the same sign, while p and r have opposite signs. So, pr is -ve and is <0. So Option C.

Is pr>0?
=> both p and r are of same sign (positive or negative)

(1) pq>0
=> both p and q are of same sign
Not sufficient, as no information of r is there
(2) qr<0
=> both q and r are of opposite sign
Not sufficient as no information of p is there

Statement 1 and 2 together is sufficient, because if P is positive, q is also positive and r is negative, which means pr<0
Similarly, we can show for if P is negative.
