I want to switch my career from Operations to Finance. I would only be applying in last Round deadline for the following programs, and I am afraid of getting rejected since I have heard that last rounds are very competitive

Masters in Management: LBS, INSEAD, Imperial
MSc Finance: LSE, UCL

Nationality: India
Age: 25Y 
Undergrad: 9.52/10 CGPA after B.Tech in CSE from a tier-2 state university in India.
I was in the top 2% of my university. I also received two scholarships for my academic performance.

Work experience: 11 months as an Operations Analyst at FAANG
GRE: 324 (165Q and 159V)
IELTS: 8

I know these programs are very competitive and ambitious. Do I stand a chance if I apply in R3 deadline? Will I have a better chance of admission if I apply before the next R1?

Please share your opinions and advice with me. I am also open to suggestions for other B-schools or colleges. I want to study and work in an English-speaking country, preferably the USA or the UK.

From my personal experience, I’d definitely say go for it!

I come from a non-traditional MBA background, , I faced a unique challenge with my profile. This unconventional path left me unsure of how to position myself competitively for a school like Columbia. I was anxious about applying in Round 3. I needed to highlight my professional accomplishments effectively since these rounds are much tougher for anyone from Asia because schools look to increase their diversity during these last rounds, and it gets tougher for anyone from an ORM group.

I took their School selection and GMAT prep service since I had concerns about my GMAT score and its potential impact on my application. I had a solid 645 in GMAT FE, but it wasn’t enough for top B-schools.On the first call, MiM-Essay thoroughly evaluated my academic background, work experience, and leadership roles and asked me to highlight my additional qualifications (Six Sigma Green Belt, language skills).

They identified my strengths, such as my extensive experience in supply chain management and leadership, and provided a clear understanding of how to present my profile more compellingly to strategically adjust my score.

Apart from that, we did target 710 as an adequate GMAT FE score to have a realistic chance at my selected Program. I had a hard time deciding between Booth's weekend program (Fall 2024) and Ross' weekend program (2025) and the competitiveness of these programs.
