I got a GMAT score of 650 (37Q/41V) with a 6 on IR and 6 on AWA

I took a second GMAT one month later trying to improve and got a 640 (36Q/41V) with an 8 on IR and 6 AWA

Is it worth keeping the second score with higher IR but slightly lower quant?

Context: rest of my application is strong with MBB experience and a previous background in the performing arts, strong recommenders, and a good academic track record, albeit with not a ton of quant coursework in my previous degrees…

okay here is an interesting score...you are quite good in IR that's clear...and verbal also...generally people lag in these areas...people excel in quant ...with Q45-Q47 quite achievable with little efforts...infact quant is where the largest improvement happens
so you now listen to me...you seem to me ideal candidate who will nail GMAT focus edition if you happen to improve your quant. even if you continue with current format i tell you, you can make quick improvement in quant in one month full-time dedicated prep...
clearly you are lacking somewhere in foundational maths...start from basic books...then mgmat quant books...then practice topic-wise from forum quiz...just focus all your efforts on quant from hereon...you will do verbal only when you are giving mocks...if you follow this i have no doubt you will zoom past 700 in one month...and don't forget to help me with those kudos ;)

Consider writing a profile-review. Mentioning some of the schools you're interested in could be helpful as well.

Hi. No, not worth keeping 640 one. Business school programs do not care about integrated reasoning section or the score. The only look at your overall number and don’t really even worry about Quant versus Verbal split. So you can use the higher score in your application.

Even if you keep the second score, I’m not so sure they will even take it into account. I would perhaps not show it.

Hi bb,

Just wanted to follow up on this: If your IR score is pretty low(eg., 1) but your AWA is high(eg., 5), then wouldn't business schools still care about both these scores? I have also been told that some business schools take into consideration your IR & AWA scores along with your quant/verbal scores(eg., NUS).

An IR of 6 is not considered all that low. So, I agree with bb here.

Hi DCat10,

I agree with the other forum members on this thread. I recommend applying with the first score.

Also, V41 is an excellent score. Well done.

The score of 640 might not be very valuable. Business schools don't really care about the specific section about combining information or its score. They mainly look at your overall score and don't worry much about whether you did better in math or in language. So, you can use a higher score when you apply.

Even if you keep the second score, I'm not very sure they will pay much attention to it.
