My speed in answering verbal section isn't great and I end up either skipping or randomly guessing the last 3-4 questions. The ideal way would be to of course practice more and improve my ability , but I have my exam in 2 days.

I subconsciously spend little longer in 1st half of the exam and then speed up during the other half. Scoring around V38 this way.
On average, I take around
1min30sec for SC
2min 40 sec for CR
8 min for RC (4 min for passage and 1 min per question)

Any tips on how to go about the last few questions? (skip or guess? or reduce time in the first half of exam)

If you notice that you're consistently spending more time on a particular type of CR question (e.g., strengthen, weaken, assumption), it might be helpful to quickly review strategies for that specific question type. Sometimes, a quick refresher can help you approach these questions more efficiently.

Given your current average times, if you can shave off just 10-20 seconds from each SC and CR question, you'll save several minutes over the course of the section. This doesn't mean rushing, but rather being more decisive. Divide the verbal section into quarters. Set a target time for when you should be finishing each quarter of the questions. This way, you can periodically check your progress and adjust your pace as needed.

With your current score of V38, you're already performing well. A few tweaks to your timing strategy can help you maximize your score. Good luck on your exam!

Hi Pts1,

Many GMATers face pacing issues in the Quant section, the Verbal section or both – so you are not alone. However, it's important to remember that pacing problems do NOT exist on their own - they're the results of OTHER problems. Since you were so close to your Official Test Date when you posted this message, that didn't give you enough time to properly define - and fix - all of the issues that you were facing, so if you had similar pacing problems when you took the Official GMAT, then that would not be surprising.

How did you feel about Test Day? How did you score (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
