I scored 710 (Q51 V34 IR7) in Jul'23 on the GMAT Classic Edition and very much welcomed the Focussed edition since I knew SC was not my cup of tea. e-GMAT was the only resource I used for my previous attempt as well.
After deciding to take the GMAT FE, I gave a e-GMAT diagnostic mock test and scored 635 (Q90 V82 D73). The analysis of this diagnostic mock that the e-GMAT platform provided has helped me dissect the problem and strategise properly. I was already at the desired level for CR. Hence, I decided to put additional efforts on RC. In DI, I was aware of my strengths and weaknesses, which also reflected on the Mock. I planned my preparation based on these insights.
e-GMAT has plethora of resources in the form of a planner and webinars to help students plan each step methodically. Using these, I was able to transform my strategies into an acton plan. On Day 0, I knew what tasks I plan to do, along with their targets, on each of the days till my exam day. For all the 75 days! This made my life simple since I dealt one day at a time. I also implemented many advices shared by my mentor Dhruv previously during LMP.
I began may journey with Quant and did sectional mocks to come across questions from topics that I'm not comfortable with. I revised all the topics once again and moved to Verbal. I once again went through each and every module of CR. I gave all the Application and Practice Quizzes. My main focus in CR was to ensure I'm not deviating from the process. I believe that Pre-thinking once mastered will highly unlikely perish. I found myself applying it naturally although I came back to the GMAT after more than a year. For prospective students, I highly encourage this process.
For RC, I religiously used e-GMAT's process. After each and every passage I answered, I analysed whether I missed any of the process steps. This helped me notice trends. For eg: Often, in hurry I skipped investing those additional few seconds to immerse in the passage in the start of the passage. This resulted in subpar comprehension. As a result of these meticulous efforts, in RC, I improved from a 56 %ile on the mock to a 81 %ile on the GMAT FE exam.
DI journey has been very straightforward for me. I covered the gaps in DS & TPA and have invested a lot of energy in other subsections. I commend e-GMAT's course design for having enough modules for Math & Non-Math related problems. The most enjoying part of this journey was Case studies in MSR. Initially, I was very uncomfortable in attempting a MSR question because of the amount of information given. Through these case studies, I got very comfortable with the experience. As a result, in MSR, I improved from a 0 %ile on the mock to a 88th %ile on the GMAT FE exam.
I gave three e-GMAT mocks after my finishing all the sections. I got 675, 675 and 665 on e-GMAT mocks. I performed a similar sub-section wise analysis to understand the gaps. I also gave two official mocks and scored 715 and 735.
710 on the Classic edition doesn't reflect my true abilities. I realised a lack of an exam strategy was the main reason for this. Since I did not want to repeat this, I formulated an exam strategy more than a month earlier. I visualised what all can go wrong and My exam day did not go my way in many ways. However, having these strategies helped me make decisions swiftly. I cannot stress enough the importance of having an exam strategy.
I scored 685 (Q88 V85 D79) on the GMAT FE exam. e-GMAT has more than enough resources to make almost any student successful. The processes are simple, there are enough quality questions and there are lot of data points generated to understand patterns. I thank e-GMAT for building a top-notch ecosystem to make students successful.
