Its been a very very long road and long life, like it has been for many people. I first sat for the GMAT in I believe 2007 or 2008. Life happened, and I finally got into a position where I could put what I needed to put in to reach this level. I just took gmatprep exam 3 and got a 750. About a month prior, I took GMAT prep 1 with a 710 and Gmatprep 2 with a 700. Between then and now, I studied intensively my weak areas in quant. I am going to book the GMAT online in the next week. This will be my 7th attempt. If anyone is still around that remembers me, or if anyone has any suggestions please send me a PM. I am tyring to finally wrap up my journey. I believe empowergmatrich is still around. If anything I could use some encouraging words.

Wow, what a marathon you've been running! Seeing your score shoot up to 750 is proof that your hard work and focus are paying off. It's inspiring to see someone stick with their goals through thick and thin. As you gear up for this next attempt, remember that it's not just about the score—it's about the journey and the person you've become along the way. You've got all the tools you need to succeed, and it sounds like you're ready to bring this home. Cheering for you!

Wow! you are bridging so many generations!

I can't say I remember you but your name looks familiar. Good luck with these last few days!
P.S. This is the time to maintain your focus and concentration and to make sure you have all parts of the process down. This is the time when you want to repeat your practice test scores. Nothing new, nothing crazy on the test day - just what you have been doing all along and that's it. Make sure you know your timing, your checklists, your plan and time for the test.

Hi Cameron,

The fact that you've stuck with the GMAT all of these years (and seen its iterations, including the longer version of the Exam and the 2 Essays/No IR version) is a real sign of your commitment to the task - and doing what it takes to achieve your goals. That's the same mindset you should take into Test Day. You already know all of the content, so now you just have to do the necessary work while taking your Exam to earn all of the points that you are capable of earning. Don't get bogged-down by any questions that you find too hard (and you'll see a few); put your energies into making smart choices and nailing all of the other questions and you'll earn the Score that you're after.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

So, after doing a bit of research, it seems that online gmat scored have a good chance of being flagged. The highest I have scored previously on the gmat was 650 and my most recent score was a 560. With this being the case, and with my recent practice test being 750, I am thinking I might need to avoid gmat online and book the exam at a center. I cannot afford to have my score under review for 20 days. Thoughts anyone?

If you have pretty easy access to a test center, then I think the safest move is to take it there.

I just wanted to update, I took the GMAT today at a test center in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I scored 720 Q49 V40 despite losing two minutes on my verbal section coming back from break. It has been a long, arduous, journey. There are a few people I would like to thank, without them, my score would have been impossible. The first is Bunnell, whoever that freak of nature is; my math maturity has grown more from him than from every one of my cal 1- real analysis professors combined. The second is a toss-up between nightblade and gmat ninja. Nightblade helped me considerably in critical reasoning and in general on the gmatclub chat. Gmat ninja is to verbal however as Bunnel is to quant. It is criminal how much my RCscore went up by studying his free youtube content; he never made a dime off me. The third is empowergmatrich. His quick and dirty, use a bunch of tools practicality served me tremendously. I accurately identified 3 quant and 4 verbal questions, which I intentionally dumped because of him.

Finally, for anyone with substance abuse issues, I want to encourage you. A drunk and pot-head can score above 700 on the GMAT. You just have to commit to studying GMAT in all frames of mind. Study GMAT drunk, stoned, and sober and you will get there. I am relieved to never have to think about or study gmat ever again and have all of you to thank for it. My deepest gratitude to all.

Take care,

ocelot22 (Cameron).

Congratulations ocelot22! Fantastic score and a great ending to the hard journey.
P.S. it is a lot harder to take the test years and decades out of college... definitely deserves a recognition!

Hi Cameron,

That's absolutely OUTSTANDING news! With this 720/Q49, you can now comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you, so you should not hold back when it comes to your applications. Now that you are done with the GMAT, what are your current application plans?

I plan to apply to Finance PhD programs, probably top 50, I am very interested specifically in the intersection of corporate strategy and equity markets/prices/ returns. I am currently working on getting letters of recommendation together. I am hoping that I can get applications done in the next month.

Thank you so much for all of your help!

Cameron.
