Hi everyone,
I gave my GMAT Focused online exam yesterday (9 pm IST, 14th November, 2023) and it was probably one of the most traumatic experience of my life. Here is some context as to how the entire event unfolded:
1) As soon as the exam started, I faced technical glitches and the examity browser started lagging. I had started with Quants section and as soon as the section ended, the browser crashed. I tried reaching out to the proctor multiple times and everytime I was asked to restart my laptop and then again, I had to reach out to the chat support team which used to take their own sweet time (usually 20 minutes) to reconnect me to the Zoom meeting with my session proctor. When the exam resumed, it skipped the second section and immediately moved to the third section- Verbal reasoning
2) It took me 5 minutes to explain the proctor that an entire section has been skipped and this was not the correct sequence. The clock for verbal section was already ticking and I lost precious time. With 40 minutes left in the verbal section, he asked to attempt the section and come back to data insights once the verbal section is completed. I was already traumatized with the course of events and the turmoil was shattering my hopes. As soon as I was done with Verbal section, the browser crashed again. This entire episode created trauma, anxiety and panic beyond the usual exam stress.
3)In full panic mode, I asked my proctor again to resolve this situation while complaining that this is not a conducive state to give an exam like GMAT. The proctor asked me to restart my laptop yet again. A 2.5 hour exam was extended to 4 hours of continuous misery.
4) My proctor invited a GMAC executive to the session. The executive asked me to restart my system and reconnect to the call. This again took 20-25 minutes. By this time it was 12 am. I was already exhausted and had lost my entire momentum to continue with the exam. Moreover, it seemed as if the amount of hard work I had put into achieving success on this exam was all in vain and it completely destroyed my hopes.
4) The GMAC executive had left the session when I rejoined and the proctor informed me that I would be allowed to reschedule the exam. He had clarified after confirming from him multiple times. However, I have not received any official confirmation as yet.
5) The most critical aspect of giving the exam on 14th November was to have some time for my B-school applications in Round 2 . I am running on a very tight schedule and don't have sufficient time to prepare for these applications. Hence, any further time to respond and review will be detrimental to my application.
Basis this context, is it possible for me to-
1) Connect with someone via call on priority who can help me with this issue as awaiting replies on email will delay the entire process?
2) Allow me to take the exam on priority within a week at a test center?
I would be grateful if someone can address my queries. This experience has left an indelible mark on my GMAT journey.
