In the xy-plane, is the slope of line k positive?

(1) The y-intercept of line k is –2.
(2) The x-intercept of line k is 3.

Can you please specify the exact source of the question? Thank you!

Thank you! So, it's GMAT Prep, not GMAT Prep Focus, right?

Can someone please tell me if I still need to study for geometry or coordinate geometry for the new Gmat Focus edition? If not, why is this question being labeled as gmat Focus edition question?

Thanx in advance!

No pure geometry questions in GMAT Focus.

However, as far as I know (taken from here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-focus-e ... 08213.html), in the GMAT Focus edition, some concepts of coordinate geometry are still tested, but they have been categorized under the Functions or Algebra sections.

In the xy-plane, is the slope of line k positive?

(1) The y-intercept of line k is –2.
(2) The x-intercept of line k is 3.

A straight line is formed if two points are joined. If we know the two points then we know the slope as well. Only one point would be insufficient to know the slope.
Since none of the two points are known in either of the choices, they are insufficient individually but together they give us two different points. Hence sufficient.

Answer C.
