3. For each of the following statements about the 3 items with which a player begins the game, select Yes if it accurately reflects the information provided in the tabs. Otherwise, select No.

• The total exchange value of these items is 40 coins.

Compass = 10, Bottle = 15, Rope = 15.

Total = 40.

Yes

• Exchanging the Bottle and the Rope will provide the player with sufficient funds to purchase 1 Boat.

Bottle + Rope = 15 + 15 = 30, and a Boat costs 30. So, enough.

Yes

• These items alone are sufficient to solve the Ocean puzzle.

Ocean needs 1 Boat + 3 additional items.

You start with no Boat, so you cannot solve it with just these items.

No

Can someone please explain how to proceed with the first question? The other two were quite straightforward comparatively.

For first question

We are given about new puzzle i.e, Cave puzzle that requires players to use 1 Lantern and 4 additional items of any type.
Further, we are asked about minimum number of coins a player who currently has no items would have to spend to purchase all of the items necessary to solve the Cave puzzle ?
Refer item values table, purchase price per item column :
1 Latern - 15 Coins
4 Items of any type (it can be same item type as well but number of coins has to be min.)
So purchase 4 items either of Clock/Mirror = 40 coins (10 coin per item)

So min. number of coins required = 15+40 = 55

Thank you ShubhamSS28 for the explanation.
I was interpreting one of the statements as we can't purchase more than 1 item for any item type in any puzzle, hence, the mistake.

hi Jyotwa
In the 2nd question, we have to 'select Yes if the player must have purchased at least one such item in the game. Otherwise, select No.'

Refer to the tab 'Game Elements', here we are told that,
The puzzles require players to use items of various types. The player begins the game with exactly 3 items, one of each of the following types:
• Compass
• Bottle
• Rope

That means the player starts with these items and can exchange it to get coins and further buy other items.
Therefore, the player need not necessarily buy a Compass, so a No for Compass.

Now refer to the tab ' Puzzle Details' -> Required Types, here we can see that none of the Puzzles require a Clock, so No for Clock
And the player needs a Boat for the Puzzle Ocean, so a player who has completed all the 4 puzzles must've purchased a Boat so, Yes for Ocean.

if one has 40 points to start, and sells 30 to buy the boat, you now have 10 points via the compass, and only two items. if you exchange the compass, you can only buy one clock or one mirror.

how do you get to 3 additional items for Ocean?

but in 2nd question compass is also necessary for solving puzzle forest. Then why is it NO for that.

He already has compass that's the reason why he will not purchase that.
He doesn't have boat, so he will buy that boat

For the question of each of the following statements, the one that says these items alone are sufficient to complete the ocean I put yes because, with this 3 items I can solve the other puzzles and buy enough stuff to finish the ocean puzzle, however, the answer is "no". Where am I wrong?

In case of Q2. The question asks which item is a "must" purchase.

In case of the Puzzles requiring Additional Items, there is no specific requirement for purchasing only Clock. Thus its a "NO".

I did the same mistake, I think the question is looking for us to answer for the items given in the start itself. Purchasing a new item, in the case a boat and the required items for the ocean part of the game, is considered as not using the initial items only. Thats what i could make from it.

This is ambiguous question. I thought we have given 3 objects already to start game with then we just need 1 lantern and 1 extra item so the cost will be 15 for lantern + 10 for the cheapest one which adds to 25. But there is no option with 25. Also it has not cleared where those 3 items that we already have before any game can be taken into account for additional item or not

Please read the question carefully.

In Q1 it explicitly says: “a player who currently has no items.” So those original 3 starter items are gone and cannot be used.

For the Cave puzzle the player therefore needs to buy all 5 items:

1 Lantern + 4 additional items. The cheapest extra items are 10 coins each, so you get the 55-coin solution.
