Congratulations on securing an interview for the NUS MSc in Finance program!
Based on previous trends and applicant experiences, you can expect a mix of questions covering your motivation for choosing NUS, career aspirations, academic and professional background, industry awareness, and behavioral competencies.
Be prepared to discuss:
- Why you want to pursue this program
- How it aligns with your short- and long-term goals
- Any relevant financial experience you've gained
The interview panel, typically comprising an admissions committee member and a finance professor, may also assess your knowledge of global financial markets and industry trends, so staying updated with financial news will be beneficial.
Additionally, behavioral questions around teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving are common. Using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your responses will help you answer clearly and confidently.
The interview usually lasts around 30 minutes, so practice articulating your thoughts concisely and professionally.
To maximize your chances:
- Conduct mock interviews
- Refine your key talking points
- Approach the conversation as a two-way dialogue to assess mutual fit with NUS
Good luck with your interview, and feel free to reach out if you need help with mock preparation or final review.

I have not yet received an official offer, but I received an email on April 22nd saying that my application has been sent to the Board of Selection for the final decision after my interview.
"We are pleased to inform you that the interview committee was impressed with your application and interview, and would like to recommend you to our Board for admission into our program."
