Never posted before but I want to recount how I studied. Data and my resources below. Also wanted to emphasize that this was just my personal experience.
My background - I was a good test taker and mediocre student in undergrad. Started looking at the GMAT November 2023, six years out from undergrad. My plan was to study ~40 hours/week for several weeks, take the test, then sign up for a GMAT course and take the test again about a month later. My November practice tests were in the 630-680 range on the GMAT classic. My weakness was Quant, which was my strength highschool/undergrad. I used Manhattan Prep, Varsity Tutors, GMAT Club, Magoosh, and Sigma-X.
After a break, resumed studying in February, transitioning to the GMAT focus. Then another break at the end of February to early April. My score was ~575 in early April, when I started studying full time. Sticking only to GMAT Club and focusing on quant, I improved to high 600’s, touching 700’s and scored a 745 on my test day end of April.
My practice scores dropped after my first real test. My new strategy was to transition to Official GMAT Focus (GMAC) material for the improved question quality, particularly for Verbal questions. I also improved my review process due to advice from ‘The GMAT Strategy Podcast’ and Manhattan Prep’s youtube video advice. My practice scores improved slightly, but I declined to a 735 on my second test day end of May.
I looked at Princeton Review, Manhattan Prep, and GMAT Ninja, but I decided not to take a course. I spent the next two weeks focusing on the DI section, my now weakest section. Got a 765 on my third test day today.
Test 1, late April: 745 - Q88 DI86 V87 Test 2, late May: 735 - Q90 DI83 V87 Test 3, mid June: 765 - Q86 DI90 V88
