For your retake, if CR is slippery, Manhattan-Prep's 6th Edition for Critical Reasoning could be worth checking out. If you feel your fundamentals are solid, consider working on your solving approach. May help boost your score a bit. Perhaps include working with a study buddy. If you can find someone who is really strong on Verbal and needs help with Quant, that could be a good fit given your Q88. There's a study buddy thread on gmatclub you could look at.

5 Verbal tips
Thanks GmatKnightTutor. Let me check out the resources you have mentioned.

user1937 - After analyzing your GMAT Verbal data, here is my analysis:
  1. You have significant room for improvement in Verbal. Your current accuracy (65.2% overall) suggests there's substantial potential to enhance your performance.
  2. A key area for development is your approach to reading dense text. This appears to be affecting both your Critical Reasoning (CR) and Reading Comprehension (RC) performance: a) Accuracy issues:
    • CR: 30% of questions incorrect
    • RC: 38.5% of questions incorrect These error rates indicate challenges in fully grasping complex text.
    b) Time management concerns:
    • CR: You spend on average 2.83 minutes on incorrect answers vs. 1.98 minutes on correct ones, suggesting that once you get the question, you can answer if quickly.
    • RC: You're using 5-8 minutes on the first question of each passage (likely for reading), yet still making errors.
Your current approach seems to involve spending considerable time reading, but this does not always result in correct answers. This suggests that while you're investing time, you may not be processing the information as effectively as possible.

If you're committed to improving your Verbal score, I strongly recommend focusing on developing more efficient and effective reading strategies for dense text. This could significantly boost both your accuracy and time management across CR and RC questions.

Please reach out if you're serious about elevating your Verbal performance. With targeted strategies and roundtripping, we can help improve your score to 705+.

Hi egmat, thanks for the analysis. The screenshot was ONLY one of the practice sessions that I do daily. I attached the screenshot just for illustration of my approach. I should have specified that - my bad.

I am attaching the ESR screenhots here.

I see two issues:

1. RC - Need to make sure that you read properly, and make notes.
2. DS (most likely Verbal)

For DS - just pure practice on Verbal DS and in general DS should help.
For RC - a proper diagnosis would be needed, but given your high CR ability, this seems more behavioral than conceptual. You fix these two, and I can see you improve to V85, D84.

Hi Rajat, thanks for your inputs. RC seems to be fluctuating a bit for me - don't know the reason for it.

What was surprising to me was DS being a bit weak as it was the part that had highest accuracy and lowest time in all of my mocks. I think it was due to lack of verbal based DS practice like you mentioned.

Can you please elaborate what you meant by behavioral for RC? I want to fix it.

Thanks.

@sahitiyalavarthi - user1937 is talking about our Scholarnaium platform. You can see some of the analytics in the link here: https://e-gmat.com/blogs/from-625-to-75 ... n-journey/

In addition to providing an excellent question bank, Scholarnaium is very good when it comes to:

1. Predicting your scores.
2. Tracking your improvement
3. Measuring your consistency.
4. Isolating your weakness and roundtripping.

user1937 - Please find the answers to your questions below:
  1. Data Sufficiency (DS) Performance: The DS questions on the actual GMAT differ significantly from those in mock tests, particularly in their verbal presentation. Official mocks typically don't include Verbal DS questions, which explains the discrepancy in your performance. Have you completed the Verbal DS module in our DS course? This module is crucial for preparing for the verbally-presented DS questions you'll encounter on the actual exam.
  2. Behavioral Issues in Reading Comprehension (RC): When I mentioned behavioral aspects in RC, I was referring to specific reading and answering strategies. Here are the key issues we've identified: a) Inadequate note-taking: Proper notes can significantly improve comprehension and recall. b) Lack of keyword focus: Not following keywords while reading often leads to missed inferences. c) Engineering vs. Managerial reading approach: The GMAT requires a more holistic, managerial reading style rather than a detail-oriented engineering approach. d) Answer choice analysis: Not reading answer choices in isolation can lead to comparison errors and missed nuances.
We cover all these aspects in detail in our error log module. To address these issues comprehensively, I recommend reaching out to our support team. If you still have an active subscription, they can enroll you in our Last Mile program, which provides targeted strategies to overcome these specific RC challenges.

This focused approach should help you improve both your RC performance and overall Verbal score. Don't hesitate to contact our support team for enrollment in the Last Mile program - it's an excellent resource for fine-tuning your GMAT preparation.
