A business bought r typewriters at $100 per typewriter and s calculators at $50 per calculator. What is the total cost of the typewriters and calculators?
(1) The s calculators cost $200
(2) 2r + s = 10
What is the total cost of the typewriters and calculators? = 100*r+50*S
1) 50*s = 200 -> S=4. I still don't have r, so 1) is not sufficient
2) 2r + s = 10, r could be 3 and S 4, but also r could be 2 and S=6 or r=4 and S=2, so 2) LOOKS LIKE IT NOT SUFFICIENT, However, if we multiply those numbers we will get 500 each time.
100*r+50*S = 100*3 + 50*4 = 500 -> sufficient -> ANSWER B
