The PQ&R Café and Grocery is a chain of small grocery stores with restaurants. The locations are grouped by type of area—rural, urban, and suburban. PQ&R collected data from all 28 of its locations on the rate of restaurant visits among its customers and the rate of large purchases in the grocery section. The results are presented in the graph. The average (arithmetic mean) rates for each group as well as the chain-wide average are represented by the horizontal and vertical lines.
Use the drop-down menus to fill in the blanks in each of the following statements based on the information given by the graph.
Among suburban locations, there is a correlation between the rate of large purchases and the rate of restaurant visits.
The average rate of large purchases is greatest for locations.

1. We are asked to fill in the blanks for 2 parts: "Among suburban locations, there is a ___ correlation between the rate of large purchases and the rate of restaurant visits" and "The average rate of large purchases is greatest for ___ locations".
2. Part 1. Let's mark all the suburban locations and draw an estimated trend line. When the rate of large purchases increases, the rate of restaurant visits decreases. So, there is a negative correlation between the two.
3. Part 2. The average rate of large purchases are the vertical lines. The largest one is the one that is rightmost. So, the average rate of large purchases is largest for suburban areas.
4. Our answer will be:

I wound't say thats a strong correlation, but okay tricky indeed.
